Marcel Powell mastered the six-string with virtuosity. In his new album "Horizon", he asserts his composing touch, arranging the compositions of his father Baden Powell (1937-2000) and showing just how much the musical heritage of the Brazilian guitarist is still alive and kicking. Thanks to the guitarist's 'signature', which everyone can recognise from the first chord, the repertoire immerses the listener in jazz improvisations and the world of Brazil.
MARCEL POWELL
Marcel Powell has his own accent. It is impossible not to associate his music with that of his master and father, who has left his mark on the history of the guitar. As his father's only pupil for 10 years, the virtuoso son follows in his father's footsteps and enchants the audience.
Born in Paris in 1982, he has recorded eleven albums as a composer, including two with his father and his brother, the French-based pianist Philippe Powell. Based in Rio de Janeiro, Marcel Powell is part of the expansion of the musical expression of the Brazilian soul, which claims its Iberian, black and European ancestors.
