Martins (drums, percussion)— join forces to pay a tribute to Elis Regina, Brazil's most iconic voice in the year she would have turned 80.
The trio presents fresh interpretations of classics by Baden Powell, João Bosco, Gilberto Gil, and more, reimagined in the dynamic samba-jazz piano trio format.
The Musicians
Henrique Gomide (piano) is a key figure in Brazilian jazz in Europe. With a decade between the Netherlands and Germany, he has collaborated with Toninho Horta, Yamandu Costa, and Guinga, among others. His trio Caixa Cubo has toured worldwide, and his solo album Portais (Challenge Records) received extensive praise from the specialized media.
Matheus Nicolaiewsky (bass) moves fluidly between jazz and Brazilian music, performing with artists like Peter Bernstein, Ivan Lins, and Yotam Silberstein.
Based in the Netherlands, is currently touring with Francesca Tandoi and the Rosenberg family. Recently he released his debut album under his own name, featuring Kiko Freitas and Yotam
Silberstein.
Mauro Martins (drums, percussion) has built a global career performing at major festivals and venues such as Montreux Jazz Festival, Blue Note NY, and Olympia Paris.
He has worked with legends like Airto Moreira, Toninho Horta, and Richard Galliano.
