Sorrindo brengt een muzikaal eerbetoon aan de legendarische Braziliaanse componist en multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal. Met dit bijzondere hommageconcert viert het Amsterdamse Brasil-jazz ensemble zijn leven, zijn grenzeloze creativiteit en spirit die zijn muziek tot op de dag van vandaag levend houdt.

Hermeto Pascoal, die eind 2025 overleed, stond bekend als een visionair die moeiteloos jazz, Braziliaanse volksmuziek, klassiek en experimenteel geluid met elkaar verbond. Voor hem was muziek een speelse, spirituele kracht — vrij, gelaagd en diep menselijk. Zijn bezieling vormt het hart van dit concert.

Sorrindo is een brasiljazz-ensemble uit Amsterdam in een bijzondere bezetting: een klassiek strijkkwartet, houtblazers, koperblazers én een swingende ritmesectie. With this special homage concert, the Amsterdam-based Brasil-jazz ensemble celebrates his life, his boundless creativity, and the spirit that continues to keep his music alive to this day.

Hermeto Pascoal, who passed away at the end of 2025, was known as a visionary who effortlessly bridged jazz, Brazilian folk traditions, classical music, and experimental sound. For him, music was a playful and spiritual force — free, layered, and deeply human. His sense of musical devotion and imagination lies at the heart of this concert.

Sorrindo is a Brasil-jazz ensemble from Amsterdam with a distinctive instrumentation: a classical string quartet, woodwinds, brass, and a swinging rhythm section.
