Celeste and Daniel love to play beautiful songs together. They are experts in the Latin repertoire, such as folklore songs from Argentina and Chile, boleros, but also some original songs.
Celeste and Daniel met ten years ago when they were both residing in Amsterdam, studying at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Since that musically fruitful time, they have stayed in contact, playing and recording together. Now they will meet again in te city where they first met, and it will be a nice and inspiring meeting. You will love it!
Celeste Alías
She is a restless, curious and eclectic cstalan singer. Jazz opens its doors to freedom of interpretation and improvisation. She is currently one of the most versatile and original singers of the country’s vocal scene, and she’s active in several groups which results in many well received concerts.
At an interdisciplinary level, Celeste’s work holds a strong bond with poetry, dance and plastic art.
She is currently a professor at the Superior Conservatory of the Liceu in Barcelona.
Daniel de Moraes
Born in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo, guitarist Daniel de Moraes was exposed to a wide range of music from an early age. As well as being nourished by the music of his Latin American roots, he also absorbed the influence of classical music. His father, a well-known guitarist and song-writer in Uruguay, was his first influence inspiring him to become a musician. Before long, he began playing, recording and touring with many important Uruguayan artists such as Ruben Rada (Grammy winner 2011) and Jorge Drexler (Oscar winner 2005).
Daniel ́s fascination for jazz music and his curiosity to search for new sounds led him to study at the prestigious Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he graduated in 2013 with a Master degree. During his time in Holland, he has had the opportunity to share the stage with some of the top musicians in the Netherlands and also with internationally acclaimed artists like Ivan Lins and Mafalda Anauth.
Alba Careta (Trumpet)
She studies in the second year of the master’s degree programme in jazz trumpet. Alba Careta has won two album awards. She won the award for Best Catalan Jazz Album 2018 for her album Orígens, which she recorded with her Alba Careta Quintet. Her album Kataka, recorded with the Balkan Paradise Orchestra, won the prize for Best Catalan Folk Album 2018. The prizes are awarded every year by the Catalan music magazine Enderrock.
Bart Fermie (Percussion)
Bart Fermie began his versatile musical career by founding Small Talk, a Dutch latin jazz band. He studied Cuban and Brazilian percussion in New York, Havana, and Amsterdam, toured and recorded or appeared on television with well over 120 artists and bands, playing pop, Brazilian, Cuban, jazz, flamenco, Portuguese, world music, jazz-rock, and latin jazz.
He has collaborated on CD’s, TV or on stage with international artists like Van Dyke Parks, Leonardo Amuedo & Antonio Serrano, Angelique Kidjo, Atongo Zimba, Babaa Maal, Ernest Ranglin, George Duke, Randy Crawford, Bobby Durham, Mory Kante, Richard Galliano, Horacio ‘El Negro’ Hernandez, Richie Flores, The Metropole Orchestra, The Brussels Jazz Orchestra, The Danish Radio Orchestra, Maria Schneider, Ivan Lins, Toots Thielemans, Frank McComb, Gino Vannelli, Branford Marsalis and Deborah Brown. Bart played percussion for the Ivan Lins CD ‘Intimate’ released in 2010 with guests like Till Broenner, Jane Monheit and Trijntje Oosterhuis.
