Argentinian singer and composer Rocio and guitarist Gomez Alvarez have their music roots in South American folklore, with European and American influences. As they say the styles borrow and steal from each other…

"In Argentina and Uruguay the coast line is the strip of land adjacent to the rivers. A land of plenty and blending where the water caresses the shores. Hills of hard woods and crackling twigs, abundant torrents, short trees and singing birds with melodious names. The music floods both shores and in the middle there sails a song. This is the music that is in our roots which has scents of all South American folklore, where Europe and America borrow and steal from each other…"

About Rocio
Singer and composer, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, began her studies in the music conservatory of the same city, with the well-known singer Liliana Pavafioriti (star of the musical The Miserables’) and with Gachi Leivovich. In Argentina assisted seminars with Gloria Gaynor, Luciana Souza, Sheila Jordan, Thierney Sutton, Jorge Rossy, David Binney, y Perico Sambeat. During five years she studied musical language at the E.M.U. school of Buenos Aries.

Completed her studies as a singer in Barcelona with Luciana Souza, Maureen Scott, Viv Manning, Carme Canela y Ana Finger. In the Passatge School she studied harmony with Javier Feierstein. Rocio studied piano en la Catalunya Superior School of Music (E.S.M.U.C.) with Marcos Mescuida, and guitar with Cesc Camprubi in The Juan Pedro Carrero School.

In 1997 she gave her first performances in jazz clubs in Buenos Aires and in other Argentinian cities as leader of the ‘Rocio Faks Quintet’. She has performed in ‘El Club del Vino’, ‘Notorious’ and ‘La Casona del Conde de Palermo’ among others. The same year her work was recognized in various European cities and later (2000) in New York, where she gave concerts in jazz clubs in this city, such as; Birdland, Smalls, Metronome, etc.

In 2003 Rocio moved to Barcelona, where she presented her quintet in the jazz circuit and joined projects of World Music. She has been on stage in performances such as La Jam Session and Griffin (Sabadell), Sunset (Girona), Antares (Lleida) and Festivals of World Music such as the Festival de Viladecans (2000) El Mercat de les Flors (2001), the Festival de Granollers (2008) and the Mostra de jazz de Tortosa (2009) among others. She has taken her music to other places in Spain: Ibiza, San Sabastian, Sitges, Valladolid, Malaga, Mallorca and Menorca. Has collaborated with ‘Big Band’ in the Juan Pedro Carrero School, and with Catalan formations: Juan Pablo Baltazar septeto, Vintage Room, Paco Perera Project and Pablo López quartet.

About Guillermo
Guillermo Gomez Alvarez 1979 Córdoba, Argentina.
Argentine guitarist, composer and arranger. He began studying guitar at the age of 10. He got the title of Guitar Professor at the Center for Teaching and Musical research COLLEGIUM (Córdoba-Argentina). He took harmony and composition lessons with the guitarists: Juan Falu and Daniel Homer.

ARTISTIC ACTIVITY: Between 1991 and 2008 he took part of the following musical bands: "G. A. Instrumental "; "South Cross"; "Dawn Group"; "Salcero5"; "Box". In 1997 he took part of the delegation that represented Argentina at the XXV International Folklore Festival in Ibague, Colombia and in 2000 of the delegation that represented Argentina at the International Folklore Festival in Arequipa, Peru. In 2008 made a solo concert which had closed the music festival of Paseo del Buen Pastor in Cordoba, Argentina.

In Barcelona, his hometown since 2008, he participates in different kinds of concert halls and festivals. Also he performed in Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxembourg being part of different musical projects like "Urutau" (world music) with Faks Rocio, Pablo Cruz and Santiago Acevedo. "Kurepí" (Argentina folk music) with Johanna Zohler and Pablo Gimenez, "Tanghoyde" (tango) with Rodolfo Jäger.
