Description
Brazil is shaped by diversity. Its cultural richness emerges from encounters — often marked by tension and transformation — between peoples, knowledge systems, and ways of life that have forged the country over time.
In this talk, researcher Alfredo Bello invites audiences on a journey through some of Brazil’s cultural expressions, revealing key aspects of the nation’s history and the powerful forms of resistance created by African peoples and their descendants, as well as Indigenous communities. Through compelling video recordings of street celebrations and community rituals from different regions of Brazil, Bello connects stories, contexts, and lived experiences, bringing audiences closer to the voices and memories that keep these cultures vibrant and alive.
Alfredo Bello holds a degree in Music from the University of Brasília and a master’s degree in Brazilian Cultures and Identities from the University of São Paulo. For over two decades, he has traveled across Brazil documenting cultural traditions from diverse regions, a journey that gave rise to the Selo Mundo Melhor project.
Through DJ Tudo and his work as a speaker, he has taken Brazilian music and culture to dozens of countries worldwide, creating powerful connections between sound, history, and living traditions.
