Dominga is a Tango duet created in 2013 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, composed by Violeta García in violoncello and Ana Micozzi in piano. Given its atypical formation in the genre they make their own non traditional arrangements searching a distinctive style and a very original sound. The repertory includes traditional Argentines tangos and new tango. From the beginning they worked with the renowned pianist and composer Hernán Cabrera (director of the Typical Orchestra Ciudad Baigón) to make the production of the first disc.
They are currently presenting their first record called “Chapa y Pintura” in the most important theaters and festivals in Argentina. The cd was recorded in the studio “Ideo Music” with very important musicians of the actual tango scene such as Natalia Lagos, Julian Bruno and the bandonionist Joaquín Angiolini. Additionally the duet is recording a second cd entirely built by new tango from women composers.
During 2019 Dominga Tango will make their first European Tour performing in several cities in Holland, Hungary, France, Belgium Switzerland and Germany, among others. Domingo Tango repertoire is based on traditional and recent compositions from the most important artists of the new tango vanguard in Buenos Aires nowadays. The objetive is to bring traditional tango music and new tangos to those dancers who wants to express themselves with a modern language.
