Munganga celebrates 37 years of theatre, culture, music and dance: a story of resistance and love for art.

Come and celebrate with us at this typically Brazilian festival: the Festa Junina!

We'll have a country wedding (casamento caipira), a quadrille (quadrilha), forró with the magnificent Tulipas and delicious things to eat.

Guitar player Celinho Silva, Zabumba master Cleyton Barros and accordionist Jina Sumedi make up the Tulipas. A trio that provides a swinging and warm Forró evening! A festive event, an evening to enjoy!

FORRÓ Forró is a dance in which the dance partners move close together. In rural areas, forró parties are an important opportunity to get to know a possible future partner. The movement of the hips is important. The arm that holds the partner's hand is swung a lot. The other arm lies on the hip of the partner.

Each rhythm has a different dance form:

Xote This rhythm is danced in the form "two to the left, two to the right" (dois para lá, dois para cá). Within the four-quarter meter, one steps with the left foot on the first beat and with the right foot on the third beat. On the first two beats one throws the hip twice to the left, and on the last two beats twice to the right.

Baião This rhythm is danced in the form one-two-one (um-dois-um). One steps with the left foot on the third beat of the bar, with the right foot on the fourth beat, and with the left foot again on the first beat. On the second beat a small hop is made.

Guitar speler Celinho Silva, Zabumba meester Cleyton Barros en accordeonist Jina Sumedi vormen samen het Tulipas. Een trio die voor een swingend en warme Forró middag  zorgt!

Een feestelijk evenement, een dag om van te genieten!

Forró Forró is een dans, waarbij de danspartners dicht tegen elkaar bewegen. Op het platteland zijn forrófeesten een belangrijke gelegenheid om een eventuele toekomstige partner te leren kennen. Belangrijk is de beweging van de heupen. Er wordt veel met de arm gezwaaid die de hand van de partner vastheeft. De andere arm ligt op de heup van de partner.

Elk ritme heeft een verschillende dansvorm:

Xote Dit ritme wordt gedanst in de vorm "twee naar links, twee naar rechts" (dois para lá, dois para cá). Binnen de vierkwartsmaat zet men een stap met de linkervoet op de eerste en met de rechtervoet op de derde tel. Op de eerste twee tellen gooit men de heup twee keer naar links, en op de laatste twee tellen twee keer naar rechts.

Baião Dit ritme wordt gedanst in de vorm één-twee-éen (um-dois-um). Men zet een stap met de linkervoet op de derde tel van de maat, met de rechtervoet op de vierde tel, en met de linkervoet weer op de eerste tel. Op de tweede tel wordt een klein hupje gemaakt.
