The Taiwanese bassist, composer, and bandleader Ping-En Hung is one of the most upcoming musicians in the Netherlands. Based in Amsterdam but born and raised in Taipei, Ping-En has been expressing her oversea adventures into colorful sound, poetic playing, and unique composing language.

In this concert, Ping-En will bring her latest project, “Ping-En Hung Originals” as a tribute to various artists through her compositions. She finds her inspiration in such as Spanish movie director Pedro Almodovar, ancient Chinese philosopher Lau Zi, and Taiwan-based international modern dance group Cloud Gate Dance Theater. With her open mind, she created new sounds through her modern jazz/contemporary music performance.

PING-EN HUNG, Bassist, composer, bandleader
The Taiwanese bassist, composer, and bandleader Ping-En Hung is one of the most upcoming musicians in the Netherlands. Based in Amsterdam but born and raised in Taipei, Ping-En has
been expressing her oversea adventures into colorful sound, poetic playing, and unique composing language.
Ping-En Hung graduated from Conservatorium van Amsterdam with a master’s jazz degree in 2022. In 2018, Ping-En won the prestigious scholarship “talent grant” in the Netherlands, becoming the very first Taiwanese student to receive such a grant.
Ping-En introduces her stories to the audience through authentic compositions and playing. Not being shy to expose her true heart, her goal in music making is to touch people’s inner
worlds. Ping-En finds her inspirations  in various artists such as Spanish movie director Pedro Almodovar, ancient Chinese philosopher Lau Zi, and Taiwan-based international modern dance group Cloud Gate Dance Theater.
With her open mind, she created new sounds through her modern jazz/contemporary music performance. Ping-En has been presenting her original music throughout various venues in The Netherlands, including her debut concert in Bimhuis in 2020. PING-ENHUNG,

Modern jazz group with original compositions
Ping-En Hung Originals is a cross-culture edition to the European contemporary jazz music scene. The group is led by bassist Ping-En Hung, who cooperates with international Amsterdam musicians. The group started in 2020, aiming to combine various musical elements such as folk music from Asia, modern jazz, and improvised music but generating one united sound.
Ping-En Hung Originals believed in the power of unions, Bringing a multiculture society into one world. The group member is from Asia, Europe, and South America. Constantly seeking new sound, the quintet celebrates the innovation and creativity in the contemporary jazz scene.

Ping-En Hung has unique sound as bassguitar player and composer. High level of musicianship in the whole band.
