O Choro Clube do Rio Amstel, a collective of Choro musicians, are determined to promote the wonderful old tradition of a Roda de Choro. This genre was conceived in the 19^th century, and that fuses European Classical music with strong African influences. It is a jam session of sorts, which is actually older than Jazz, and which is offers a cosy, intimate atmosphere.

This fine and rich tradition of Brazilian music combines tasteful melodies, harmonies and rhythms brings a subtle balance between complex structures and spontaneity. A rare combination of warmth and virtuosity. Whether you heard about this tradition or are totally new to it we’ll be honored to have you there and enjoy the sounds and the atmosphere that goes along with it.

Deze genre werd bedacht in de 19e eeuw, en dat Europese klassieke muziek versmelt met sterke Afrikaanse invloeden. Het is een soort jamsessie, die eigenlijk ouder is dan Jazz, en een intiemere, knusse sfeer aanbiedt.
