An exploration of Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre's exciting cantata 'Judith' based on the bible story of the same name, featuring poetry and music written by women in the past and present day. This performance is an exploration of how women write about and process their rage and other emotions through art.

Through this biblical story and how it has been depicted by women, both by the painter Gentileschi and the composer Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre (1665-1729), we want to explore a woman's expression of rightous rage and the fallout from her actions. We will be bringing Nymphes et Monstres' unique approach to this performance, incorporating declamed poetry, staging and aspects of dance to bring this exploration to life.

Nymphes et Monstres
Nymphes et Monstres is a collective specialized in French baroque music, but it is also much more than that. Nymphes et Monstres is a concept of what a modern-day performance of Baroque music can and should be, with a view towards a concert experience that goes far beyond the music itself. By dissecting the pieces we perform, adding declamed text, movement, and at times also video art, we have developed a concert format that manages to bring our viewers deep into the story we tell.
