Sun 26 Jun, 16:00 – The Orkestra Amazônika Duo, by Fadel & Sou

Both Fadel and Sou come from South and Southeast Brazil, but it was in the Netherlands that they first met a few years ago, playing Brazilian instrumental music with guitarist Nelson Latif. After some time, they got together again to play a new repertoire based on their own compositions and some versions of instrumental themes by Egberto Gismonti and Ronald Snijders.

Fadel on piano and Sou on drums/percussion create an exciting combination of styles that blend Brazilian, jazz and world music in a creative and free experience.
The Orkestra Amazônika Duo brings the power of the "minimalist movement" - the power of an ant - into a maximum landscape of sounds where they explore rhythm, harmony, melody, song, improvisation and poetry.

These two ladies can surprise you with their backgrounds of Brazilian music, jazz, Latin, classical and world music, among others.

Beide muzikanten komen uit Zuid- en Zuidoost-Brazilië, maar het was in Nederland dat ze elkaar een paar jaar geleden voor het eerst ontmoetten, terwijl ze Braziliaanse instrumentale muziek speelden met gitarist Nelson Latif. Na enige tijd kwamen ze weer bij elkaar om een nieuw repertoire te spelen op basis van eigen composities en enkele versies van instrumentale thema's, zoals Egberto Gismonti en Ronald Snijders.

Fadel op piano en Sou op drums/percussie creëren een spannende combinatie van stijlen die Braziliaans, jazz en wereldmuziek vermengen in een creatieve en vrije ervaring. Het Orkestra Amazônika Duo brengt de kracht van de “minimalistische beweging” – de kracht van een mier – in een maximaal landschap van geluiden waar ze ritme, harmonie, melodie, zang, improvisatie en poëzie verkennen.
