In the intimate performance event under the title Other identities the two performers Dorota Matejová and Lucija Gregov take you on a sound-motion-poetic journey to share and explore their well-known and lesser-known artistic and other identities and passions. The two artists will perform solo acts and show their newly developing performance Other identities.

Other identities is a movement & sound performance exploring the realms of our identities, based on the personal experiences of the two performers themselves. Too often we identify ourselves as someone based on our ´dominant´ identity, mostly connected to our profession or our role in the society. But our identity, who we are, is much more complex and rich than the reduced versions of ourselves that society often asks us to identify with and within. Through sound, movement, space and tools of improvisation, deep listening and chosen structures, we explore in this performance the questions about our other identities:  Who are we beyond our dominant identity? What are we apart from the obvious? Beyond our profession, our role in society? How much are we embracing or rejecting our dominant identity? What are we keeping in the shadows? How far can our identities grow and expand? Which parts of our identities we decide to keep and which ones to let go?

Lucija Gregov is a cellist, improviser, composer and programmer. Through many interdisciplinary collaborations, Lucija seeks to push the boundaries of traditional cello playing which further extend her interpretation, technique and ideas. Her instrumental cello practice is a starting point of the sonic exploration while she finds improvisation to be a significant tool in enabling emergence of practice and sound materials that are open-ended and continuously transformative.

Dorota Matejová is a traverso player, physical performer and poet. She performs in various contexts of early music, contemporary & experimental music, physical theatre and interdisciplinary performance. Her poems reflect personal experiences & observations of self, humans and life. She makes music-movement-poetry acts & pieces, enjoying to de-construct and re-define the traditional performance formats and finding her own ways of playing music, moving and being ´on stage´.
