Roda de Samba is one of the most popular events in Brazil, where musicians gather around a table and start playing and singing.
This Roda de Samba will have a special theme because two years ago in Brazil it was decreed as the “Women’s Day of Samba”. This is on April, the birth date of the great Matriarch of Samba, Dona Ivone Lara. .
Due to the pandemic situation we had to postpone it, so we will pay tribute to the this amazing composer samba singer on the 16th of October.
Her life and trajectory in samba represent the resistance of women, the black woman as a composer and director of a universe historically dominated by men.
In this repertoire we will join other emblematic sambas sung by female voices such as Clara Nunes, Elizeth Cardoso, Aracy de Almeida, Clementina de Jesus, Jovelina Perola Negra and much more.

Roda de Samba is een van de meest populaire evenementen in Brazilië, waar muzikanten zich verzamelen rond een tafel en beginnen te spelen en te zingen.
Deze Roda de Samba heeft een speciaal thema omdat het twee jaar geleden in Brazilië werd uitgeroepen tot “Vrouwendag van Samba” op 13 april. Dit is de geboortedatum van de grote Matriarch van Samba, Dona Ivone Lara.
